Ok, did you just keep reading?

So you're not a video person...Or you don't have 2.5 minutes. I often feel like that. I tried a breathing exercise where I set my phone to chime on the hour to remind me to take 10 breaths but after 2 days I got annoyed and thought "I don't have time to breathe." Yes, I realised the irony of that.

If video is not your thing then I guess programmes where the materials include videos may not be your thing -

But perhaps I can enlist you to help me on my mission? It's a big one.

My mission is to raise the consciousness of the legal profession.

A lot of people don’t understand my mission (I'm not sure my own family do!) but I know it's what I am here to do.

And it doesn't mean I go around trying to wake people up - I'm not that presumptuous! I just provide the support for those who are already awakening. It can be pretty lonely, and hard. Often I've helped lawyers find ways to practise law that feel better to them, so they don't quit the profession. It would be sad if all the lawyers who opened their hearts and minds quit the law because they felt they just couldn't do it anymore.

I want to know what it is YOU ARE HERE TO DO as a lawyer. Do you know? Are you doing it?

There are millions of lawyers who accept the status quo of the profession we were handed. A profession which is often:

elitist

patriarchal

racist

sexist

dysfunctional

​But it can be different if we dare to practise law differently.

But that takes courage.

And it takes a supportive community.

That's what CREATE YOUR PATH AS AN AWAKENING LAWYER is about

and because of the great feedback, I am running it a second time.

In my experience, lawyers usually awaken when they have a personal crisis or challenge and they start to question the lack of alignment between their values, and the values of the legal system they practise in. They question the role of lawyers in society and want to humanise the system.

Some lawyers start realising that they aren’t really solving their clients’ problems, because the origin of the problem is deeper than the legal issue. In other words, the problem the client presents you with is not the real problem.

Some awakening lawyers find ways to bring healing and care to the existing legal institutions - for example, they continue to work as a family advocate, but now they do this with a much greater awareness of how to bring healing to generations of family dysfunction.

Some awakening lawyers choose to birth NEW ways of practising law - like focusing on conscious contracts, or developing a system where people can get divorced online at far less cost.

One thing seems to be shared by all awakening lawyers at a certain point in their growth - they realise that conflict is a powerful tool for transformation and that lawyering can be sacred work. But that may come in time.

There are things you can do NOW to shift how you show up as a lawyer.

Here's where I admit I don't have everything sorted...

I tried REALLY hard not to bother people with unwanted emails, so I added these buttons to my last mail where you could select if you'd like to a) hear more about this course or b) don't want to hear more about it.

But about 60 people clicked both buttons! so that tags you as someone who WANTS TO HEAR ABOUT THE COURSE and also DOESN'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT.

Boy, it has been pretty confusing to work out who I can contact again. Even my tech coach didn't have an answer.

What I did was exclude from this mail all subscribers who clicked "I don't want to receive more emails about this course" - even if they had also clicked the button that said they did. So I'll give you just one option today.
